Capitol Heights Resident and Student at Loyola University Maryland Wins Critical Language Scholarship

2016 May 10

Jacqualine Asuquo, 2019, has been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship to study in Chinese in Tainan, Taiwan at the National Cheng King University.

Asuquo studied Chinese for seven years prior to her first year at Loyola.

"Not only do I want to be fluent in Chinese, but I also want to be able to speak it fluently in the country. Going to Taiwan will give me a chance to practice my skills and help me learn what I need to do in order to achieve fluency," Asuquo said.

Asuquo, a biology major and Chinese minor from Capitol Heights, Md., hopes to visit the Zhongshan Park and Confucius Temple while in Tainan. At Loyola, Asuquo is a member of the University Singers, African Student Union, and Model UN.
