Jonathan Deegan Awarded STEM Scholarship At Loyola University Maryland

Jonathan Deegan, class of 2017, a chemistry major and biology minor, from Hopewell Junction, has been awarded a STEM scholarship for summer study in Germany for projects in chemistry.

Deegan was awarded a scholarship with The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)/Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) to study his project, "Natural Product Synthesis and Method Development in Heterocyclic Chemistry," at Freie Universitat, Germany. Deegan will be designing and carrying out some heterocycle-syntheses, working to make those reactions more efficient, and purifying the products of those reactions.
